Down the Rabbit Hole

joisana gave me the keyword "tarts" to do a picture of Grantaire with.

Two things came from that. Neither of which are colored yet, both may be - the second DEFINITELY will - but I figured I ought to put it up already, as it's been sitting at my desk for a day or two already.

The two pictures can be described as 1, "what happens when you give the prompt 'tarts' to a rabid Alice in Wonderland fan" and 2, "what happens when a fan of Les Mis and of pastries starts thinking about the two in combination".

Um. So. Yes. These take literally five minutes to do, so I did actually do a few more. More ideas are welcome! Also, ideas for 'scenes' - I already have Marat's stabbing and such, but I'm looking for more iconic scenes to draw in a strange sort of mural-type picture of various, um, zoomorphic revolutionaries. Maybe. ^^;

Also, I couldn't pick between the Camille pictures. There are three in the picture below. Please help me pick which one works best!

Um. I blame maelicia!

Well, it was sort of both our faults. I came up with vampire hunters of the time period and the fact that Rousseau believed in vampires, she came up with the super-secret organization of vampire-hunting philosophes who would have been much more successful if they hadn't argued so much. I came up with the Light of Reason anti-vampire weapon, she came up with using La Nouvelle Heloise's time period fanboy-causing effects as a weapon and having Therese as a vampire-bait sidekick.

It's still mostly her fault. *cough* But I will admit that the picture is all my fault. Please ignore the horrible fashion inaccuracies behind the LJ-cut.

I'm trying not to let this turn into a series. Particularly not a series followed by a sequel series titled "Vampire Hunters of the Revolution"...

*shifty eyes* Did you know the REAL reason for the execution of the Hebertists and the Dantonists is that, after years of faithful patriotic super-secret anti-vampire service, they had become infected? The political stuff, that was all cover. Pretty easy-to-find cover, but cover ne'ertheless. And let's not even get STARTED on the vampire aristocracy...besides, we all knew about them anyway.

Another of my attempts at realism. This one was done in a very piece-meal way, given my crazy schedule (all I need to do know is a 8-page paper and then start research for the 15-page, and do/catch up on all the hw! Not so bad after the mad midterm-presentation-essay dash), but I still like it. It's not perfect (goddamn mouth! Can't do lips to save my life...and don't get me started on how many times I had to do the hair! Bah, blonds), but at this point I'm poking at it and I don't think there's anything I can think of to make it better. I'm probably wrong on this point, but, ah well. I do apologize for shaggy-hair-of-doom, though - I have no idea how that happened. -_-;; So please, um, don't laugh too hard at that.

Um...yeah, I don't think there's anything else I can add about this.

Okay, there is one comment, and I can only make it because my birthday just passed: I am twenty years old; I have done badly; I will do better.

I have a huge 30 min presentation on Wed and 5-page essay to go with it, neither of which have really gotten more than a little bit of progress on, and both of which are for a teacher which cannot abide any realism in her discussions.

...this makes me sad. It also makes me procrastinate.

Quick sketches of god-knows-who. My first attempts at realism for several years, just to see if I could still do it. Answer has turned out to be: ...maybe? Not really..?

I like this one. ^___^ My mental version of Jean Prouvaire just fits in with the whole art-nouveau movement quite well. I may have, um, overdone the floral theme a bit, but I was giggling the whole time I was doing it, so what the hell. It was fun. I regret nothing. ^^;

Also, I may have had a bit too much fun with his hair. And the background.

Feuilly's turn. Best way to explain this is...I had no idea what in the world I was doing here, but it seems to have come out all right. ^^;; The entire time I was drawing this, I kept thinking "Feuilly: the original fan boy!" and snickering...
